Consultants, Nurses Threaten to Join Strike

The crisis in the public healthcare delivery system has gone from bad to worse, with consultants threatening to join in the doctors' strike come Monday if the government continues to turn a deaf ear to the doctors' demands. The Kenya Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Society say it was impossible for some 200 out of 600 doctors to offer effective services to thousands of patients streaming into public hospitals daily. And as Sylvia Chebet reports, the registrars' discontentment is just a drop in the bucket, the real concern according to the consultants is Kenya's broken healthcare system which needs to be fixed.
