As part of our ongoing efforts to implement the 2024 National RTTWF and foster meaningful social dialogue ahead of any potential industrial action, the KMPDU team recently engaged with Vihiga County Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo on several key matters crucial to the wellbeing of doctors in the region.
Here are the key outcomes of our discussion:
Comprehensive Medical Cover: The Governor has committed to ensuring that a comprehensive medical cover will be in place by the FY 2025/26.
Pending Doctor Promotions: A clear timeline has been set for the finalization of pending doctor promotions, with decisions expected by March and July 2025.
Condemnation of Attack on Dr. Victor: The Governor strongly condemned the recent attack on Dr. Victor, assuring that the case is currently under investigation by the DCI.
Postgrad Release for Doctors & Union Officials: A commitment was made to release all doctors and union officials for their postgraduate studies by March 2025.
Hiring More Doctors: Plans are underway to hire more doctors under better terms, ensuring that healthcare delivery in the county is further strengthened.
As the KMPDU, we remain vigilant and dedicated to advocating for the improvement of working conditions for our members. We will continue to push for fair and just policies that prioritize the health and welfare of both doctors and the communities they serve.
Together, we are working towards a brighter future for the healthcare sector in Kenya.
