KMPDU participated in the inaugural Kenya Dentistry Awards 2025, a timely and important platform that celebrates certified excellence within the dental profession while advancing critical conversations on patient safety, ethical practice, and quality of care. The awards align closely with the objectives of the Quality-of-Care Bill, 2025, which seeks to strengthen standards and accountability across healthcare delivery.
While recognizing professionalism, innovation, and dedication among qualified dental practitioners, the forum also brought to the fore a grave and persistent concern: the continued operation of unqualified individuals running illicit dental clinics. These illegal practices place patients at serious risk, undermine professional standards, and erode public trust in healthcare systems.
KMPDU stands in full solidarity with the Kenya Dental Association (KDA) in its unrelenting call for regulators and all relevant stakeholders to act decisively. Protecting the public from unsafe and unethical practices is not optional, it is a collective responsibility that demands enforcement, accountability, and political will.

As a union, KMPDU remains committed to supporting initiatives that uphold professional integrity and safeguard patient welfare. While excellence must be recognized and celebrated, patient safety must always come first. Strengthening regulation, enforcing existing laws, and closing down illegal facilities are essential steps toward ensuring safe, ethical, and high-quality dental care for all Kenyans.
