Kiambu Doctors Rise Against Neglect, Defy Intimidation and Fight Back

KIAMBU – JULY 25, 2025

There Are No Kings in Kiambu and We’re Bowing to None!

Doctors in Kiambu County have launched a full-scale demonstration, intensifying a legal and justified strike that has been ignored for far too long. At the heart of this action are longstanding grievances: delayed and denied promotions, lack of a functioning medical insurance scheme, and a blatant violation of constitutional rights, including the right to strike affirmed by the courts.

Instead of engaging constructively, the county leadership has chosen the path of intimidation, threats of dismissal, and outright contempt. This is not just an attack on doctors; it is a direct assault on the quality of healthcare for the people of Kiambu.

This crisis didn’t start today. It has been building over years of broken promises, delayed interventions, and systemic neglect. Doctors are being overworked, underpaid, and disrespected even as they serve in understaffed facilities with limited resources.

As KMPDU, we are standing firm. We are not pleading for change; we are demanding it. We have served formal petitions to the Kiambu County Assembly and the Governor’s Office, holding them accountable for the deteriorating state of health services and labor relations in the county.

This is not a protest for protest’s sake, it is a call for dignity, justice, and respect.
Doctors in Kiambu are not backing down. We are speaking loudly, boldly, and resisting injustice relentlessly.
