Celebrating Culture and Community
ELDORET, December 10, 2025
Today, KMPDU had the honour of being represented at the 98th Kenya Music and Cultural Festivals in Eldoret, where our National Treasurer, Dr. Mercy Nabwire, joined thousands of Kenyans in celebrating the creativity, unity, and resilience that define our nation’s rich cultural tapestry.
The Kenya Music and Cultural Festival is one of the country’s longest-standing annual showcases, bringing together diverse expressions of music, dance, drama, chants, and traditional arts from across the nation. This year’s edition, held under the theme “Threads of Culture, Weaves of Opportunity,” reflects Kenya’s determination to preserve heritage while unlocking socio-economic potential through artistic expression.
Hosted at Moi Girls’ High School, Eldoret, the festival was officially opened with dignitaries, performers, and participants representing over 22 counties. The event celebrated not just talent, but the unity and collective identity that bind Kenyan communities together. More than 25,000 performers participated in various categories, highlighting our cultural diversity and shared values.
Cultural festivals like this remind us that health and society are deeply interconnected. Just as culture nurtures a sense of belonging, identity, and emotional well-being, a strong and supported health workforce is essential to national wellbeing. At KMPDU, we see this interplay clearly: healthcare thrives when communities, talent, and dedication come together in harmony.
Dr. Mercy Nabwire’s presence at the festival symbolized the union’s belief that investing in people, whether in arts or in medicine, is investing in Kenya’s future. Creative expression uplifts the spirit, resilient health teams protect it. Both are indispensable in building a healthy, vibrant, and prosperous nation.
As we celebrate the remarkable talent showcased at Eldoret, and as teams prepare to present their best work to national leadership, including to the president at the State Lodge, KMPDU reaffirms its commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen community cohesion, cultural pride, and collective wellbeing.
Culture enriches society — and when culture thrives, health follows.
