DIANI: November 11, 2025
KMPDU joined the Kenya Dental Association (KDA) Annual Scientific Conference in Diani, represented by the Union Chairman Dr. Abidan Mwachi, following an invitation from KDA President and our own Deputy Chairman, Dr. Kahura Mundia. The event also featured the Director General for Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth, underscoring the national significance of the discussions held.
During the engagement, KMPDU reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding professional standards within the dental profession. Dr. Mwachi applauded KDA’s sustained advocacy to ensure that only qualified and duly registered dentists attend to patients, an imperative for public safety. He emphasized that KMPDU is ready to collaborate fully with KDA to uphold these standards across all practice settings.
Addressing the persistent employment crisis, KMPDU highlighted the unacceptably low absorption of dentists in county governments, noting that the country continues to underutilize its highly trained medical personnel. The Union called for urgent, coordinated action to rectify these gaps and strengthen the healthcare workforce.
Dr. Mwachi also reiterated KMPDU’s firm stance on the recently concluded Kiambu doctors’ strike, emphasizing that the Union remained resolute in ensuring a robust and principled negotiation process, one that prioritized the welfare, rights, and demands of its members. He noted that this commitment delivered a successful resolution for the doctors of Kiambu County.
The Union leadership, Secretary General Dr. Davji Bhimji Atellah, National Treasurer Dr. Mercy Nabwire, and Deputy Secretary General Dr. Idan Miskellah, conveyed their greetings and solidarity to KDA and all attendees.
KMPDU remains committed to strengthening partnerships across the medical and dental professions while advocating for the rights, welfare, and professional stature of all healthcare workers in Kenya.
