The Central Branch Annual General Meeting (AGM) reaffirmed our union’s steadfast commitment to protecting the hard-earned victories of our members. The meeting highlighted key achievements and charted the way forward in strengthening doctors’ welfare across the region.
Key Highlights from the Central Branch AGM:
Basic Salary Arrears: Doctors have successfully received payments for long-overdue basic salary arrears, a major milestone secured through persistent advocacy.
Promotions in Kirinyaga County: After a lengthy delay since 2019, promotions were finally implemented in March 2025. Efforts to achieve similar outcomes in Murang’a, Nyeri, and Nyandarua are ongoing, with continued engagement in Kiambu County where challenges persist.
CBA Payment for Interns: Payments for medical interns, as outlined in the 2017 CBA, have been secured, with the union remaining ready to escalate efforts where needed.
Release for Training: Doctors are now being granted opportunities for further training, an important step in career development and specialization.
Ending Temporary Contracts at KNH: Temporary contracts at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) have been successfully abolished, restoring job security for doctors.
The AGM served as a crucial forum for discussing regional issues affecting doctors at both county and sub-county levels. It reinforced the importance of unity and collective action in safeguarding and expanding our gains.
More physical AGMs are being planned across the country. We encourage all members to participate actively in these meetings to strengthen our solidarity and collective voice.
