On Monday,22nd January 2024, night, the KMPDU leadership convened a crucial meeting with doctors from Uasin-Gishu county,MTRH (Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital), and MOI University to address pressing concerns affecting our members. The agenda encompassed vital issues, including :
1. MTRH CBA.
2. Contractual engagements.
3. KMPDU/MOI University recognition agreement.
4. SHIF medical cover
5. Lack of promotions
6. Taxation .
7. Critical shortage of doctors, especially in Uasin Gishu County.
8. Undergraduate and post -graduate training.
9. Leadership-Doctors taking up leadership positions
We reiterated the need to foster unity of purpose in pursuing our issues, recognizing that collective advocacy is paramount in championing our rights and ensuring a conducive working environment.
As we navigated through the discussions, it became evident that the challenges faced by our members are not isolated but shared across different medical institutions and counties.
The meeting underscored the importance of solidarity among doctors, transcending institutional boundaries and county governments. Recognizing that our common concerns extend beyond specific workplaces, unity becomes a powerful tool in advocating for improved working conditions, fair compensation, and recognition of our professional contributions.
We urge all doctors to stand united in the pursuit of our collective interests . By fostering a sense of solidarity, we empower ourselves to effectively engage with stakeholders, negotiate favourable terms, and create a sustainable and fulfilling work environment for all. The challenges we face are formidable, but through collective action, we can navigate them and build a healthcare system that benefits both doctors and the communities we serve.
