KMPDU Lower Eastern Branch AGM: Push for Promotions, Postgraduate Releases, and Full CBA Compliance

May 05, 2025

The KMPDU Lower Eastern Branch Annual General Meeting brought together doctors from Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui to address persistent regional challenges affecting healthcare professionals. Central to the discussions were promotions, job regrading for doctors and consultants, medical insurance, salary delays, postgraduate study releases, and broader CBA and RTWF compliance. The union reaffirmed its commitment to holding counties accountable for delivering on these critical issues.

Emerging and unresolved concerns continue to frustrate progress in the region. In Makueni, the county government has refused to deduct agency fees, undermining union representation rights. In Machakos, budget constraints have been cited to justify stalled promotions, while in Kitui, the lack of declared vacancies continues to delay the advancement of qualified doctors. These challenges not only affect morale but also hinder service delivery across county facilities.

KMPDU has made it clear: fair treatment, timely progression, and dignified working conditions for doctors are non-negotiable. The union will continue to engage, mobilize, and if necessary, escalate action to ensure that the counties of the Lower Eastern region meet their obligations to the doctors serving their communities.
