KMPDU Supports Healthcare Regulatory Reforms for Efficiency and Better Patient Care

The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists Union (KMPDU) acknowledges the government’s decision to merge and restructure healthcare regulatory bodies to enhance efficiency and improve patient care.

For years, the fragmented system has resulted in duplication of roles, inconsistencies in regulation, and administrative inefficiencies. A unified regulatory framework will standardize healthcare practices, streamline licensing, enhance collaboration, and optimize resource utilization.

However, for this transition to be effective, challenges such as resistance to change, system integration, and operational alignment must be carefully addressed. Strategic planning and active stakeholder engagement will be key in ensuring a smooth transition, ultimately strengthening healthcare governance and delivering better outcomes for patients across the country.
