Doctors Promoted in Kwale — A Landmark Victory for Fairness and Dignity

KWALE: August 8, 2025

Today, we celebrate a milestone in the fight for fairness, respect, and professional recognition for our healthcare workers.

Kwale County has promoted 67 of 68 eligible doctors across all cadres, from Senior Medical Officers to Chief Specialist, fulfilling the Return-to-Work Formula signed on 8th July 2025, which ended a two-week strike by our dedicated members.

The Promotions at a Glance

  • 12 Senior Medical Officers, Dentists & Pharmacists (Job Group N)

  • 11 Medical, Dental & Pharmaceutical Specialists II (Job Group P)

  • 30 Specialists I (Job Group Q)

  • 13 Senior Specialists (Job Group R)

  • 1 Chief Specialist (Job Group S)

Promotion letters were issued within the promised three-week window, a clear demonstration that genuine dialogue + decisive action = real progress.

We commend the Kwale County Government under H.E. Fatuma Achani for honouring their word and showing true integrity in upholding the dignity of our doctors. This action lifts morale across the profession and strengthens healthcare for the people of Kwale.

To the residents of Kwale: your health is in good hands.
To all KMPDU members: your solidarity delivered this win.
To the KMPDU leadership: your example is one worth emulating.

Message to all counties: Respect healthcare workers. Protect healthcare systems.
