KMPDU Western Branch Engages Busia County Leadership on CBA Implementation

BUSIA: Oct 01, 2026

The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU), through its Western Branch, today held a meeting with the Busia County Executive and the County Public Service Board to discuss the implementation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

The engagement focused on advancing the implementation process and strengthening coordination between the Union and the county leadership to ensure that the terms agreed upon are translated into action.

CBA Implementation Committee Established

A key outcome of the meeting was the establishment of the CBA Implementation Committee, which will oversee and coordinate the implementation process in Busia County.

The Committee is expected to provide a structured mechanism for engagement, follow-up and coordination between the relevant parties as they work towards fulfilling the commitments outlined in the CBA. Its formal inauguration is scheduled for next Tuesday.

Sustained Engagement for Doctors’ Rights

KMPDU recognises constructive engagement with county governments as an important part of ensuring that negotiated agreements are implemented effectively. The Union will continue working with Busia County leadership to address implementation matters, uphold doctors’ negotiated rights and promote an environment that supports effective healthcare service delivery.

The establishment of the Committee marks an important step in organising the implementation process. Continued collaboration, accountability and timely follow-through will be essential to ensuring that the CBA delivers on its commitments.

KMPDU remains committed to ensuring that negotiated agreements are respected and implemented, and that doctors’ rights are safeguarded across all counties.
