NAIROBI – July 13, 2026
A historic milestone has been achieved for doctors in Nairobi as the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Nairobi Branch officially opens its first-ever dedicated office, providing the Union’s largest branch with a permanent operational home for the first time.
The Nairobi Branch Office was officially launched during a ceremony attended by KMPDU Secretary General Dr. Davji Atellah, National Chairman Dr. Abidan Mwachi, Deputy National Treasurer Dr. Renoh Omoro, and members of the Nairobi Branch leadership.
For many years, the Nairobi Branch has operated without a dedicated office despite representing the largest concentration of doctors in the country. As the Union’s biggest branch, Nairobi has played a central role in advancing doctors’ welfare, coordinating member engagement, and championing healthcare reforms. The establishment of a permanent office marks a significant step in strengthening these efforts.
The new office provides a stable operational base from which the branch can enhance member services, improve organizational efficiency, and deepen engagement with doctors across Nairobi County. It also reflects the Union’s continued commitment to building strong institutions capable of effectively serving members and responding to emerging challenges within the healthcare sector.
Speaking during the launch, the leadership emphasized that the occasion represented far more than the opening of a physical workspace. It symbolized the deliberate strengthening of institutional structures that will support the branch for years to come.

The office lays a firm foundation for professionalism, accountability, and continuity through stronger systems and governance mechanisms. It represents an investment in the future of the Union and a commitment to ensuring that branch operations remain responsive, effective, and sustainable.
As healthcare challenges continue to evolve, strong institutions remain essential to protecting doctors’ welfare and advancing the interests of the profession. The establishment of a dedicated branch office enhances the Nairobi Branch’s ability to organize, advocate, engage members, and provide timely support to doctors working across the county.
The new office will also serve as a central hub for member support, branch administration, leadership engagement, and coordinated advocacy efforts. Most importantly, it creates a permanent home for the branch, a place where doctors can connect, organize, and collectively advance the interests of the profession.
This milestone marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Nairobi Branch, one built on stronger foundations, better service delivery, and a renewed commitment to serving both current and future generations of doctors.
A stable home has finally been established. The work continues.
