10th Annual Delegates Conference (ADC 2026): A Renewed Mandate for Doctors and Healthcare Reform

The 10th Annual Delegates Conference (ADC) marked a defining moment for our Union and for the future of healthcare in Kenya.

What took place was not simply a gathering of delegates, but a united movement of doctors drawn from every corner of the country, converging with a shared purpose: to defend the dignity of the medical profession and strengthen healthcare delivery for all Kenyans.

ADC 2026 reaffirmed the collective resolve of doctors to move forward with courage, clarity, and unity. The resolutions adopted reflect both the urgent realities facing the profession and the bold interventions required to address them.

Key Resolutions Adopted

Delegates unanimously resolved to pursue the full implementation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), with particular emphasis on salary adjustments that reflect the rising cost of living and the prolonged period of wage stagnation.

The conference further demanded the immediate settlement of all salary arrears owed to doctors, alongside the provision of comprehensive medical insurance coverage for all doctors employed under both National and County Governments.

On employment and health system policy, ADC 2026 underscored the urgent need for the annual recruitment of at least 3,000 doctors, as well as the direct absorption of medical interns into Permanent and Pensionable terms upon completion of training.

The conference also adopted a firm position on strengthening the quality of medical education and addressing policy gaps that continue to affect healthcare delivery, training standards, and doctor welfare across the country.

Strengthening Union Governance

Internally, ADC 2026 reinforced the Union’s governance structures through constitutional review processes, enhanced accountability mechanisms, and the successful conduct of trustee elections. These processes reflected transparency, competitiveness, and strict adherence to constitutional provisions.

A Message of Unity

Most importantly, ADC 2026 reaffirmed that the greatest strength of this Union does not lie in titles or offices, but in solidarity.

It is in the unity of doctors standing together in pursuit of fairness, justice, safe working conditions, and quality patient care.

Conclusion

The mandate has been renewed. The vision is clear. The movement is stronger.

Now the work continues.
