NAIROBI – July 17, 2026
The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Nairobi Branch has continued its engagement with key health sector institutions following a courtesy visit to the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) aimed at strengthening collaboration and advancing the welfare of employees covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
The delegation, led by Nairobi Branch Chairman Dr. Bill Muriuki, formally introduced the newly elected Branch leadership to the Board and held discussions focused on labour relations, employee welfare, and the implementation of the existing CBA.
The KMPDU team was received by the PPB Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ahmed Mohamed, who reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to honouring the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. During the engagement, the CEO confirmed that employees covered under the agreement are being remunerated in accordance with the negotiated CBA framework, underscoring the institution’s commitment to fair labour practices and compliance with established agreements.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange views on matters affecting staff welfare and workplace relations while reinforcing the importance of continuous dialogue in fostering a productive and supportive working environment.
For KMPDU, such engagements remain central to the Union’s broader agenda of ensuring that negotiated agreements are fully implemented, and that healthcare and health-sector professionals continue to work under fair, dignified, and lawful employment conditions. The Union has consistently maintained that effective labour relations are built through structured engagement, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to addressing emerging concerns before they escalate into disputes.
The courtesy visit concluded with a reaffirmation of the strong working relationship between KMPDU and the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, with both institutions expressing their commitment to continued collaboration in promoting employee welfare, industrial harmony, and excellence in public service.
As KMPDU Nairobi Branch begins its new term of leadership, the Union remains committed to strengthening partnerships with employers and stakeholders across the health sector while safeguarding the rights and welfare of its members.
Constructive engagement remains the foundation of strong institutions, motivated workers, and better service delivery.
In solidarity.
